ENGINE MOUNT

Image
DNX8 engine mount need attention for putting direction. I use REDS engine. Then engine mount must be set same direction. I put engine mount direction to near exhaust pipe side. Because center drive shaft does't tough engine mount. I varnish engine mount thread middle powered thread lock. I varnish thread lock with taper head zone too. Pinion gear mesh is very important. Pro driver's buggy is so quiet. It sounds engine exhaust only. Noise is nothing. First I adjust gear mesh by center diff mount. Loosen Orion threads. I put driver into Super gear hole and push super to engine side. Then tighten Orion threads. Second I adjust mesh subtle by engine mount thread. I move subtle engine self. I adjust many times for no clearance and no friction.

FUEL TANK BUILD IN

Image
I modify tank puller to Losi eight T puller. I have already told this on another story. I add a small fuel filter. It's a just size with among tube support. Pressure tube is a setting parts. If engine stall often occur by percolation,Probably you should change pressure tube length to shorter or diameter to bigger. If over rich, you should change tube length to longer or diameter to small. Exhaust pressure is adjusted by pressure tube. Left side is Nova tube, right side is Kyosho tube. These are different diameter. In summer I put on exhaust heat sink, else season I put on exhaust stabilizer. It is a OS exhaust stabilizer. When open throttle, exhaust pressure increase. The item make pressure stable.

FRONT WHEELBASE

Image
There is clearance between front lower suspension arm and suspension holder that too large with my criteria. Then I cut only rear end 1.7mm. It's not 2mm. Then I put 2mm spacer on rear end. There is  a little clearance and no friction that I allow level.  And I get a option wheelbase changing. DNX8 front lower suspension has a small depression. When suspension full bottom,Drive pin can't pop out! It's a nice design!

thermal damage

Image
Today Neo buggy writes about TLR new buggy. This is new agama buggy. The buggies become wide chassis. On the other hand Kyosho buggy series never become narrow chassis. In my opinion Kanai knows about thermal damage well. Thermal damage break radio system and engine performance. Chassis is serve engine for heat sink. Thin chassis can conduction a lot of thermal from engine to back side of chassis. Wide chassis can though a  lot of air flow to inside body. Metal plate radio tray is serve servo for heat sink. DNX8 has wide 3mm chassis. Servo places out of plastic box. And put on metal plate. It is destiny for engine car designer to avoid thermal damage like McLaren Honda. Even though RC car is a car. DNX8 is a nice car for me when I was interested in after survey my point of view. I like open space of engine side for avoiding thermal damage. I want to buy one acre on the plain.

FUEL TANK prebuild

Image
I put a heat resistance tape on fuel tank. And I plaster silicon on joint zone of the tape. For avoid melting tank by exhaust pipe touch. Under side, for heat resistance from chassis. I change tank screw to taper head screw with big washer. And I add 2mm spacer only front side. Then Fuel tank set front-left up status. Fuel flow into Rear-right area that place on intake.

return tube

Image
I adjust brake linkage. I set rear brake effect little loose. And I add return tube.

FILL OIL

Image
Kyosho has two type diaphragms. I use right side one. I like no rebound shock. I use #55 for front,#45 for rear in autumn. AE revise oil bottle. They abolish long nose spout. I put on LM middle length spring for rear. IF347-155 I can not get front spring  yet. Japanese RC shop send me wrong NO. spring. I'm waiting for that. For rear, I have only two type springs light blue and orange. Any buggies use these only. I set lock nut reverse direction. It make a best clearance between shock guide to nut.

steering servo horn

Image
It's a HB D815 option Alu servo horn. Processing is little poor than xray or kyosho. I usually use taper head screw for linkage. It's for avoid screw attach ball end.

SUNSET

Image
My grandfather and father were fisherman in Japan. So I am good at fishing since I was a boy. Last night was spring tide evening,I got out my office early. I went to fishing battle field by my fishing boat! What'a beautiful sunset! I fished some horse  mackerels for my family dinner. You feel might be savage. Japanese eat raw fish with soy sauce like a SUSHI. It is called 'SASHIMI'.  My family eat silently too delicious.

Shock assemble

Image
I assembled shocks tonight. I have already Kyosho shocks. But I have to change shock length for DNX8 suspension. Front shock is called MS type. For that I need these parts. I rube Oring by Oring grease. When you pinch the shaft by radio pliers, you should pinch on threading zone. Rear shock is called M type. I change shock shaft to 66mm. I use 1.5mm x 5holes piston. I can't feel piston difference well. If I felt hard,I fill low viscosity oil. If I felt soft,I fill high viscosity oil. But I like the piston. Because I can use high viscosity oil as same feeling for big hole. High viscosity oil is stable on long term race. It does't leak. It  does't become thermal degradation. I user original shaft end ball links and spring saucers. Shocks are perfect fit front and rear to DNX8 suspension. Then I measured droop length. It is Travis setup sheet. Is wishbone droop means this method of measuring? Probably so,...

Brake Disk modify

Image
I like Losi brake disk design. They have rim on the mouth of disk. It suppresses disk to move violently. I checked Kyosho brake disk again. There is little clearance round shape area between diff cup. Then I cut aluminum can of beer to get aluminum paper. It can be cut by scissors easily. I bent side to pinch this disk side. Then I make the rim. I tried to trim the rim does't touch brake pad. But remaining doubts about durability. It is proved after several tanks running. I think it probably OK,because it's so simple structure and Japanese aluminum of cans is high quality. I put on the disk again. I adjust clearance of brake pad several times. I take a lot of care about brake feeling.

Break in part2

Image
Have you watched two pro drivers break in video? One is Ryan Lutz, other is Papa Tessmann. They are professional, and use different engines. Probably Their method is correct for each engines. But I found two different points. ①idling. Ryan Lutz does't start up with idling. In my opinion,Idling is most severity for engines on out of box. Idling sent a little fuel to Primary Component. For nitro engines, fuel means lubrication. And slow rotation make a big resistance. Virgin sleeve, cherry piston, connection rod are received big damage. I think start up with in running immediately is correct way. ②Preheat Probably climate of Canada is cold. Then Papa Tessmann do preheating. This is very important. He warm up sleeve before piston. It generates outside of sleeve thermal expansion. Then It reduce resistance when first contact of PC. And he keeps sleeve heating by tire inner put on head. Air flow makes sleeve to be cold. Almost engines broken came from first st...

CONVERT univ

Image
Mugen upright parts arrived. I compare with original. Left side is DNX8 original. Differences are... The original is little higher than MBX7R. The position of steering plate is little lower than MBX7R. MBX7R upright don't have useless stay.  But almost same. MBX7R revise upright recently. parts No. E2105-B I will order it. And bearing size id different. This is original CVD drive. This is MUGEN Univ. Univ length is just size. But univ hits lower suspension arm on no bottom status. After put on front shock,I will have to adjust rebound,or scrape suspension arm. I changed hubs to XRAY. Drive pin size is different.  Kingpin ball nut should not tighten tightly. Loose at kingpin ball has free travel, and more loose bit. Ball link suspension cry 'Keeei' after short time running. Should make little clearance for discharge dust.

brake parts

Image
Today many parts arrived. Kyosho parts have been out of stock on short term. Because Kyosho was in financial closing. I start prebuild with arrived parts. This is a MP9 option brake rotar. These are more lighten 4g total. Center diff rotate 5000rpm. Then I reduce weight 20000g/m. Mouth of rotor is just size. But thick of rotor is different,I will have to adjust interval of brake pad. This is servo horn for throttle. Japanese subcontract small factory have a super technical capability. There are many private management small factories in Japan. Some of them trade to NASA,Bowing etc. I cut the mount .and drill 2.4mm. I put the brake linkage opposite way as manual. Bridge bar is a nice idea. I am satisfy DNX8 brake system. Brake effect certainly.
